Celebrating Neurodiversity
The Musical Autist is a place where neurodiversity is celebrated and respected!
Our mission is to provide access to the arts and platforms for self advocacy for musicians of all ages and abilities on the autism spectrum. Our vision is to create places online and within the community where neurodivergent musicians and artists are celebrated and accepted, through venues where there is opportunity to work, perform, and build relationships. We’re a 501c3 nonprofit organization that started Sensory Friendly Concerts in 2011. Our other programs include Empowerment Jam Sessions and Musical Autist Troupe.

Our performers knocked it out of the park last night. Many of our musical autists performed original compositions. Others performed covers. All were amazing! There were songs about self-acceptance, empowerment, the beauty of life, and songs that simply brought joy to the performers. Thank you to all our performers, the Masters of Ceremony, Sarah (our tech support), our volunteers, and everyone who came out last night to show support for The Musical Autist’s programming. #inclusionmatters #AccessibilityMatters #themusicalautist #sensoryfriendly #musicforall
Take a look at some of our pre-event activities from last night’s Sensory Friendly Concert.🎶 Our theme was Oceans of Exploration, so everyone was invited to write an empowering word on a fish and place it on our sea wall. We had ocean-themed coloring stations and a drum circle. Anyone who may have become overwhelmed by the surroundings could use our sensory quiet room, which was staffed by both music therapists and early childhood educators. Noise-reduction headphones were available, and everyone was free to move around during the concert. 🎶 #AccessibilityMatters. #inclusionmatters. #themusicalautist
