Boom!! How about our new logo and fresh coat of paint on our website?? Yeah we’re pretty psyched. 🙂
We wanna give a big shout out to our friend Ben, at Brand Army. Ben’s a logo design genius. Look again at our new logo above. Yep, it looks like a Kokopelli (a Native American symbol for music), but look again, and you’ll see a FLAPPING HAND! Look in the “negative space” and you’ll see a taupe-colored thumb below four purple fingers – so brilliant!
We became friends with Ben Osterhaus through our friend Mike Ricucci, at Terra-Rising (an awesome advocacy organization promoting the field of Music Therapy.) Mike is right here on the East Coast, but the way we connected with him was through our mutual friend Kat Fulton, at Music Therapy Ed – who’s all the way over on the West Coast! In this day and age, it’s certainly all about connections and finding one’s tribe of like-minded people …. I know right!
And now a great big thankful shout out to our friend Aaron Hartland, who has faithfully volunteered his web design skills to The Musical Autist for over 2 years now, simply because he believes in us and he believes in our mission. Doesn’t it just feel so bold and clean and shiny around here? 🙂
We’ve never been much for asking people to leave comments on our blog posts, but with all this new change going on, we’d like turn over a new leaf in this area as well.
So if you’d be so kind, please throw down a comment below and let us know if you like our new design and if you like the advocacy work we are doing here at The Musical Autist.
The only reason we do what we do? To advocate for the Autism Rights Movement through Community Music Therapy, by bringing more and more Sensory Friendly Concerts around the world.

I totally recognized the flapping hand and loved it before reading the post. 🙂 Great work!
Thanks Sarah! Glad it’s easy to see. I have difficulty (perhaps some slight visual impairment having to do with being severely right-brained) seeing images in negative space. Someone once had to walk me up to the side of the FedEx truck and trace the arrow with their finger, before I could actually see it – oi!

I love it! The new logo matches the whole concept of Sensory Friendly Concerts perfectly.
Thanks Rachelle! I really love it too. So thankful for Ben at http://www.BrandArmy.org (he also did the logo for Terra Rising). Ben truly *listened* to my ideas/mission/vision of the organization and was able to put all of that into a simple, yet meaningful image. Such talent!!

Love this! Seeing joy on people’s faces when they participate in a concert or talk about their experiences with autism is an amazing thing. Thanks for helping to spearhead this neurodiversity movement!
The site looks beautiful! Very crisp and clean. The logo is really great, although I’m not as familiar with the flapping hand…
I am so happy that you share your passion this way! Thanks for doing the work to keep the blog updated. I love following the progress of your therapy and will continue to.
The new logo feels fresh and friendly. Thanks for sharing!
