One. Song shares: we encourage each member of the troupe to share a song whether it is by playing it on the piano, guitar, or a recorded version on their mobile device.
Two. Musical performance: at the end of every troupe session we come up with songs that we can perform in an empowerment jam session or a sensory friendly concert.
Three. Giving musical feedback: after we rehearse a song in troupe, we ask for feedback from each member. We evaluate how well the group did, and we talk about things to improve on.
Four. Musical discussion: we talk about concepts of music during troupe. We talk about music theory, how music is designed, and sometimes, we talk about the history of music.
Five. Self advocacy: sometimes we have discussions about autism rights and how each member of troupe can advocate for themselves musically or socially.
Our next session of The Musical Autist troupe will begin on September 18 and run through November 6! To learn more or register for Troupe Junior or Troupe, please e-mail: themusicalautist@gmail.com
