The Musical Autist is based out of Anne Arundel County, MD, and we care about our community. We are triangulated between Baltimore/Annapolis/WashingtonDC. There are many, many children being born in this area who are autistic.
We do our Sensory-Friendly Concerts at Church on the Rock, which is directly across the street from Ruth Parker Eason Special Ed. School, for the musical-sensory benefit of this growing number of children, who are our NEXT generation.
We are gaining a huge support base and contributions which will help to make S-F Concerts keep happening in our own area, and also to give the resources for other local communities to launch their own S-F Concerts.
That is the vision of The Musical Autist!!!
If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times – MUSIC IS KEY!
Equal rights & accessibility to the fine arts!!
Who’s right is it to say that this growing autistic population should be permanently marginalized because of their lack of social skills? Tell us, who?
And who’s to say where talents and IQ truly lie? The “powers that be” are baffled by autism as much as anyone. Only the God of the Universe knows fully.
There are huge “not for profit” entities out there which will take the cause of autism for their own self-purposes and grand agendas. (who do not even fall in line with the Better Business Bureau! but who shall remain nameless right now.) Just ignore the hype and the talking heads! Think for yourself!
Don’t let the “fear tactic autism labels” skewer the things you would otherwise comprehend by instinct, hunch or intuition.
Stay focused on the beautiful things that are happening in the autism boom! Look at these amazing musical gifts which should be celebrated – not exploited. That is the only way Ms.CJ keeps her equilibrium in a depressingly rocking world, and that is her best advice for you.
Remember, do not be so quick to judge intellect. Like our dear friends say at Wretchers & Jabberers say…”PRESUME COMPETENCE!”
Especially when a person is non-verbal. #Neurodiversity. Pay attention..
