Today, I would like to take some time to reflect on Troupe for the winter/spring 2020 semester. This semester was unique because we transitioned from meeting in person to meeting on Zoom. Even though we transitioned to an online platform, we still stayed connected throughout the semester. Here are some of our members’ fondest memories from our time together:
- Mountain of Life, written by Troupe participant Will, was a common favorite across both OG Troupe and Troupe Jr. In OG Troupe, members recalled hearing the song for the first time, adding harmonies for the first time, and adding our very own bass player to the song!
- Other members shared that their favorite memory was when they came to Troupe for the first time. Some members were nervous about meeting new people, but as Troupe went on, everyone felt welcomed and accepted!
- More favorite memories include songs that were shared during Troupe. One member recalled dancing to Make Your Own Kind of Music by Mama Cass Elliot. I had the privilege of playing live songs on the piano during my song shares, one of which was a personal favorite, “I Just Called to Say I Love You,” by Stevie Wonder.
As a group, our favorite memory was meeting together in person and making music. We appreciated everyone’s time, and missed those who couldn’t make it to Zoom Troupe! We cannot wait to start our Summer Troupe Semester on June 23rd and hope to see everybody there.
