This is one of our favorite tunes to sing and play around here. This one goes out to Will!
The above embed is dedicated to this little guy. Will and his family are thrilled to be a part of The Musical Autist family.
Will’s only been taking music lessons for less than a year. On our first official lesson, I told him about C, F & G major chords. The next week he came back playing all 12 keys, in both major and minor tonalities!! For those of you who know anything about music, I know you are impressed right now…
Tomorrow I’m going to Berklee College of Music’s “2nd Annual Music Therapy Technology Symposium.” I’m pretty psyched about it. And I just left the “Mid-Atlantic Region American Music Therapy Association” conference (whew long names right? Must be because Board Certified Music Therapists are really really smart!)
My neurons are still so happily firing from the last and now I’m blessed to be on to the next.
So…I mean really though.
We’ve got Musical Forces like Will on the Autism Prevalence Increase!
I think that’s pretty exciting!!
If you need to, take a minute and wrap your mind around what I am meaning to say with all those caps…
I wager there are more autism kids out there with musical gifts like Will, than is given consideration in today’s society. Not only does Will have pristine perfect pitch, but his first day in my studio it took him less than 2 mins to reprogram the time on every digital clock in the place! How can new music technology behoove a kid like that? I’m gonna go find out about the latest and greatest. But, really & truly, my students are the ones that always teach me how to teach them..
Will is indeed an impressive and thrilling young man. It’s exciting to see him explore and know its because there are multiple people investing in his life regardless of the challenges it may bring. Thanks for playing your part!
